Set The Scene With A Diffuser

Scent plays a pivotal role in how you experience the world, recall memories and even in your day-to-day mood. So, it goes without saying that it can be therapeutic to fill your home with a fragrance that creates the right ambience.

AromaWorks Soulful Reed Diffuser gently releases fragrance into any room of your house, filling the air with an aromatic blend of frankincense, juniper, bay and patchouli. These essential oils have been shown to soothe and de-stress while boosting confidence and improving mental clarity. Place the diffuser in an area of your home where you’ll benefit from it the most, such as your living room.

Mist Your Bedroom

It’s not only your living room that deserves the fragrance treatment – but why not tailor the scent to suit your needs. Bedrooms should be a haven for peace and relaxation. Lavender, chamomile and neroli are just a few popular fragrances that have been shown to help you unwind and drift off after a long day.

AromaWorks Serenity Room Mist is a gorgeous blend of lavender, neroli, geranium and lemongrass, which helps to relax and de-stress. Spray it straight into the air, or onto fabrics for a longer-lasting scent. Bliss!

A Few Drops Of Essential Oil

Of course, as fantastic as it would be to have a diffuser or room spray with you everywhere you go, that’s not particularly practical. For those times you want to grab and go, a bottle of essential oil is a must.

Add a few drops into a bath, your oil burner or just open the lid for a quick burst of fragrance when you need to destress – this really is a versatile aromatic to keep in your toolkit. With notes of rose, rose geranium, bergamot and mandarin, AromaWorks Harmony Oil is an instant mood-booster. It’s the perfect scent for creating a cosy atmosphere on a budget, or for keeping in your handbag.

Throw In A Bath Bomb

There’s nothing quite like sinking into a hot tub at the end of the day. Let every muscle in your body relax as the water washes away your stress. And, for a luxurious treat, turn it into a sensory experience with a fragranced bath bomb.

Using the same blend of essential oils found in the Serenity Room Mist, described above, the AromaWorks Serenity AromaBomb Single makes a blissful addition to your bath. With detoxifying Pink Himalayan Sea Salt and skin-soothing calamine, you’ll step out of the tub feeling like a new woman.

Get Fresh Faced With An Exfoliator

Dry, dead cells can cling to your skin, making it look dull, textured and unhealthy. Buff them away with an exfoliating mask that leaves your skin bright, polished and ready to soak up your favourite serum.

A physical exfoliator, AromaWorks Nourish Exfoliate Mask uses fine bamboo powder to break the bonds that hold dead cells in place, exposing the beautiful, healthy skin below. Sustainable and free of microbeads, it’s good for your skin and the planet.

Replenish Your Skin

Make the most of that clean, clear complexion by applying a nourishing serum and moisturiser straight after you exfoliate. With plum extract, rose and neroli oils and hyaluronic acid, AromaWorks Absolute Face Serum is a transformative treatment for all skin types.

Then, to lock in all those beneficial ingredients, follow up with an even layer of AromaWorks Nourish Night Cream. Designed to tackle fine lines head-on, the formula regenerates and hydrates as you sleep. Now that’s the sort of skincare magic everyone needs in their life.

Don’t Forget That Pout

Before you hit the hay, there’s one last step to top off your cosy night-in and ensure you wake up looking as good as you feel – lip balm. Your lips are often the first part of your face to show signs of stress and dehydration. If yours look a little worse for wear, moisturising alone won’t be enough.

AromaWorks Rejuvenate Lip Balm is designed to soothe and protect your lips while nourishing and revitalising. Unlike many high street lip balms that use highly refined petroleum, in the AromaWorks Rejuvenate Lip Balm, you’ll find natural jojoba wax, shea butter and castor oil. Apply before bed, and anytime your lips need a little pick-me-up.

DIY Beauty Treatments You Can Do At Home

DIY Beauty Treatments You Can Do At Home

From hydrating facials to transformative hair masks, DIY beauty treatments are the perfect way to bring a touch of luxury into your week, using items you’re likely to find around the house. If you fancy mixing up your usual skin or body care routine but aren’t ready to invest in any new products, a DIY treatment offers a great middle ground.

Explore some of the most popular DIY beauty recipes below, and see if you discover a new favourite.

Body Scrub

There’s no treatment quite as indulgent as an all-over body scrub. And while a DIY version may not have quite the same effect as you’d enjoy in a day spa, it’s only a fraction of the price. You can buy a wide range of gorgeous body scrubs for under £5, but making your own is the lowest-cost option of all, providing you have the right ingredients at home.

When making a body scrub, the most important thing is to use a coarse base, like salt or sugar, which will physically buff your skin. Epsom salts are a fantastic product to use for this because, when you’re not using them for a body scrub, they make a great addition to a bath, whether for relaxation or muscle recovery.

DIY Body Scrub Recipe

  • 2 cups salt/sugar
  • 1 cup oil
  • Few drops of essential oil

Combine your salt or sugar with carrier oil in a ratio of 2:1, and add a few drops of essential oil to create your customised blend. Then, simply stand in the shower or bath and buff the mixture in circles over your skin.

Soothing Facial Mask

Whether you have sensitive, reactive skin or you’ve just caught the sun; a soothing facial mask is a great recipe to be able to whip together in times of need.  One important thing to consider before applying a face mask to irritated skin is that it can become even more irritated if you apply ingredients that don’t agree with it. This is where DIY masks come into their own, as you know exactly what’s inside.

Here are three of the best face mask recipes to try when your skin needs soothing:

Oatmeal and Honey Mask

  • 1 tbsp plain yoghurt
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • 2 tbsp ground oatmeal (as fine as possible)

Combine the ingredients into a smooth paste, then apply to clean skin and let sit for 20 minutes. Wash off, then follow with your favourite nourishing moisturiser

Aloe and Avo Mask

  • 1 ripe avocado
  • 2 tbsp coconut oil
  • 2 tbsp aloe vera gel

Mash the ingredients together until they form a paste, then apply to clean skin and let sit for 20 minutes. Wash off, then follow with your favourite nourishing moisturiser

Banana and Milk Mask

  • 1 banana
  • ¼ cup whole milk
  • Few drops of rose essential oil

Mash the ingredients together until they form a paste, then apply to clean skin and let sit for 30 minutes. Wash off, then follow with your favourite nourishing moisturiser

Pre-Pedi Soak

Feet are often at the bottom of the priority list, leaving them marred by dry, cracked skin. If yours are looking a little worse for wear, this next recipe is a must-try.

Vinegar has been shown to help soften skin and, when used as part of a pre-pedi soak, can make it easier to remove calloused, dead skin. Best of all, you can use any vinegar that you have in your kitchen cupboard, whether it’s apple cider vinegar or regular malt.

Vinegar Foot Soak Recipe

  • 2 litres cool, not hot, water
  • 1 litre vinegar

Combine water and vinegar at a ratio of 2:1 and leave your skin to soak in the mixture for 5-10 minutes. Follow by giving feet a light buff with a pumice stone if you have one handy.

Follow with hydrating foot cream, then use nail polish remover to get rid of any residue before applying nail colour in a vibrant summer shade.

Protein Boosting Hair Treatment

Last but certainly not least, hair treatments are one of the easiest DIY options of them all. By tailoring the ingredients based on what your hair needs, you can create a hair mask that is 100% beneficial to the health of your hair, with no hidden nasties.

In particular, many people find that their hair can benefit from an occasional protein treatment. The signs your hair might be crying out for protein are if it stretches, feels mushy or breaks while you wash it.

There are some great natural sources of protein, including avocado, coconut, egg, yoghurt and mayonnaise. So, depending on what you have available, you’re sure to be able to whip something up. Here are a few ideas to get you started:

Egg and Yoghurt Hair Mask

  • 1 egg
  • 2 tbsp yoghurt

Beat the egg and yoghurt until they form a smooth paste. If your hair is very dry, just use the yolk; if it’s oily, just the white, or if your hair is a combination, use the whole egg. Apply to your scalp and hair and leave for 30 minutes. Rinse out with cool water, and shampoo and condition as normal.

Mayo and Avo Hair Mask

  • 1 ripe avocado
  • 1 tbsp mayonnaise

An ideal protein treatment for dry hair, mash ingredients and leave in your hair for an hour. Rinse out with cool water and shampoo and condition as normal.

There we have it, a great range of DIY beauty treatments that can be made from ingredients you have lying around your home. Did your favourite make the list? If not, share yours in the comments.

7 Best Summer Perfumes For 2022

7 Best Summer Perfumes For 2022

Summer is the season for letting your hair down and soaking up the sunshine with family and friends. It’s also the ideal time to try out new fragrances, finding that *perfect* signature scent to see you through the season.

The main reason for swapping out your perfume in summer is because heat and humidity can change your body chemistry, changing the scent of your fave fragrance. You might also find that your perfume wears off quicker, usually due to the combination of sweat and a perfume formulation that hasn’t been designed for high temperatures.

A well-chosen summer perfume sits on your body like your favourite sundress, perfectly complementing an idyllic day. But, finding that unicorn fragrance usually requires a lot of trial and error. Thankfully, we’ve done the hard part for you.

We’ve filtered through all the most popular scents and new releases to create this curated list of the best summer perfumes for 2022.

Marc Jacobs Daisy Eau So Intense EDP

If you love the original Daisy fragrance, you’re sure to be smitten with the recently released Daisy Eau So Intense. Bright, clean and sweet, Eau So Intense features the same strawberry, white floral, and musk notes you know and love but leans further into the gourmand genre of fragrances.

Honey, vanilla and pear bring a rich decadence to an otherwise light summer fragrance. This fruity-floralscent is anything but boring, so get ready for the compliments to start rolling in.

Valentino Born In Roma Coral Fantasy EDP

A fruity fragrance with a deep, musky dry-down, Valentino Born In Roma Coral Fantasy is a feminine summertime fragrance that retains enough sophistication to make it office-friendly.

Imagine kiwifruit on the beach, and you’ll have an inkling of how Born In Roma Coral Fantasy smells in person. The lighter notes of kiwi, Brazilian orange and rose are balanced by musk, ambrette, muskmallow and cedar. The result is a clean, sweet and well-rounded perfume for long summer days.

Lancome Oui La Vie Est Belle EDP

A brand new release for 2022, Oui La Vie Est Belle is the latest flanker in the popular Lancome range. A fruity, floral gourmand fragrance for women, this is a toned-down version of the original, with notes much better suited to the warmer months.

Iris is the dominant floral in both versions of the fragrance, but while the original was a creamy sweet scent, Oui La Vie is much fresher. In place of praline, vanilla and tonka are raspberry, pear and bergamot – with a touch of pepper – because Lancome knows you like life to be a little spicy.

Marc Jacobs Daisy Love Skies Edition EDT

Another Marc Jacobs Daisy flanker? Well, it is a summer round-up after all, and the Daisy collection is quintessentially light and breezy. From the same master perfumer who brought you the other fragrances in the range, Daisy Love Skies brings a fresher, more aquatic update.

Boasting the same DNA as the original, the berry notes are joined by slightly more unusual notes in the form of whipped cream and salt. Sure, it might not be a winning flavour combination, but in this scent, it just works. Creamy, fruity with a waft of salty sea breeze, you’ll reach for this beauty all summer long.

MUGLER Alien Goddess EDP

While MUGLER is very open about targeting Gen-Z with their latest fragrance, this one is likely to be a winner with all ages. With powdery white floral notes, the core of this perfume is a traditional, classy, feminine scent. But that’s not where it stops.

What truly cements MUGLER Alien Goddess in the summer category is the blast of bourbon vanilla, and coconut water that layer over the other notes. Cosy, warm, but unmistakably tropical, it’s like being wrapped in a cashmere shawl after sunset at a beachside cocktail bar – heavenly.

Viktor Rolf Flowerbomb Ruby Orchid EDP

Quickly becoming the darling of the Flowerbomb family, Ruby Orchid is a simple, syrupy vanilla fragrance that’s utterly perfect for summer. While the original very much lived up to its name, the newest addition plays it lighter on the floral notes, concentrating solely on orchid.

Along with the floral heart, you’ll find peach, vine and vanilla bean – a sensual, sweet, sugary combination that will turn heads for all the right reasons. Viktor Rolf Flowerbomb Ruby Orchid also packs a punch, with enough longevity to last morning till night.

Jimmy Choo I Want Choo EDP

The final fragrance to make our shortlist of the best summer perfumes for 2022, Jimmy Choo I Want Choo is the most floral of the bunch. If you were intrigued by the peach and vanilla notes of Flowerbomb Ruby Orchid but want something a little less sweet, I Want Choo is a match made in heaven.

In this fragrance, vanilla is the standout note, paired with jasmine and red lily to create a creamy, powdery scent. The top notes of peach and mandarin provide the bright, vibrant twist that makes this perfume effortlessly wearable from Spring through Fall.
