Get Involved With Summer Trends The Right Way

Get Involved With Summer Trends The Right Way

There have been so many trends so far this summer, but the key to acing them is all in the detail. Experimenting with new beauty products is always daunting especially if you’re trying something new so we’re here today to give you all the tips, tricks and products you need to get involved with the summer trends you’ve been seeing all over Instagram and only wishing you could pull off, whereas this type, you can and you will!

Glitter boobs are a thing and I can guarantee you’ll have spotted this trend at different festivals so far this summer. It’s fairly risky – but not if you do it the right way. Here’s how. Start with chunkier gems as these are the guys you’ll be building the rest of the look around. Using real glue over your skin isn’t the best idea for this area so use a brush and smoother your chest in hair gel, it may sound crazy, but it works! Next up is the fun part where you grab glitter tub of choice and paint it on all the places covered with gel. Finally, to lock it all in place, grab a can of hairspray and go wild.

To complete the full summer-mermaid vibe, another super cool trend to try out is wet-look hair. One of the easiest ways to do this is to prepare your hair the night before so that you don’t have to spend hours slaving away under a pair of curling tongs. All you need to do is wet your hair before bed with some water or any nourishing water-based hair spray and plait your hair. For loose waves, do two hair plaits or for tighter more textured waves split your hair into four or even six sections depending on how thick your hair is. In the morning when your hair has dried, if any sections need topping up, just plait that section again and apply a bit of heat to it whether that’s clamping the plait with straighteners or using your blow dryer with a spritz of heat-protectant beforehand of course. To top the look off add in a texturizing spray and any dry oils of your choice from root to tip.
FD Recommends: Fudge Bodifying Salt Enhanced Texture Spray

Have you been scrolling through Instagram and spotted anyone with a few more freckles than usual recently? That will be because of the faux freckle trend. It’s great to do whether you already have freckles or not because the likelihood is, is that when you opt for more coverage with a heavy-duty concealer or foundation for its sweat-proof powers, as well as evening out your skin tone, these products, of course, cover it up too. To bring back your freckles and beauty marks, all you need is a brown liner whether it’s for your lips or eyes. Then delicately pencil on, one dab at a time, until you get the desired effect. To add clusters of freckles around your nose, adding a touch of bronzer and blush beforehand will help to blend them in.
FD Recommends: High Definition Beauty Kajal – Rich Brown

Finally, we have a trend in products and it’s all about a little bit of firming action. Whatever your size and shape, we all struggle with stretch marks and cellulite no matter how curvy those areas may be. So great products to invest in to give you that extra boost of confidence if you need it are products with firming superpowers. Whether you’ve caught the tan of your dreams from your holiday already or you’ve been working all summer and haven’t been abroad, fake tan is here to save the day. It can give you the perfect top-up or an ideal glow when you need it and what’s better is that there are now a fair few formulas with firming creams in them!
FD Recommends: St Tropez Gradual Tan Plus Firming Lotion

Get The Most Out Of Your Perfume With These DIY Hacks

Get The Most Out Of Your Perfume With These DIY Hacks

Whether you’re obsessed with a new fragrance and want to smell it all throughout your home not just on yourself or you’ve got a tiny bit left in a bottle that you want to make the most of, these DIY hacks will give you all kinds of ideas. From increasing a perfume’s longevity to repurposing a fragrance for things you never would have thought about before, prepare to have your mind blown. If you’re on the lookout for new fragrances too, we’ve recommended some that would be perfect for the summer!

It’s all about timing. The best time to spray your fragrance is as soon as you’ve stepped out of the shower. Your warm, damp skin will really help to lock in the scent and unlike spraying it when you’re fully dressed, this way you’ll be able to avoid staining delicate clothes and any costume jewellery. It’s easy enough to do! To remind yourself grab your favourite bottle and place it right next to your towel so you’re ready to go.
FD Recommends: Moschino Toy2

Petroleum jelly is a savour. As well as good old Vaseline being able to work wonders for dry skin and chapped lips, it’s great to use for throwing on perfume. Maybe you had your shower the night before, or you’ve come home to get changed quickly for evening plans and need a fragrance boost. Just apply a little bit of Vaseline to your pulse points such as your wrists, lower neck, behind the ears (and even your folds halfway down your arms and behind your knees) pre-spritzing and you’ll be good to go. The slight tackiness to the balm will hold the fragrance to your skin much longer than applying it to dry skin.
FD Recommends: Davidoff Run Wild

Don’t dab! We’re all guilty of spritzing our wrists and then rubbing them together as if we’re doing ourselves a favour but we really aren’t. The harsh wrist-to-wrist rubbing action actually forces the top notes to disappear faster than intended and as a result of that, you’ll find that the fragrance won’t last as long. Instead, spray from slightly further away to get a nice mist that will easily skin into your skin without leaving a wet feeling.
FD Recommends: Calvin Klein Eternity Flame

Two? Make it three. I’m not driving. If you have a tiny bit left of your favourite fragrance, add a few drops to any unscented lotion. You’ll be able to enjoy it for much longer because the moisture in the cream will really hold on to the fragrance. You can also add it to any scented creams or balms too, just choose which scents you think would compliment each other nicely.
FD Recommends: YSL Black Opium

Tissue paper in drawers
Something new. Ever thought of lining your draws with pretty tissue paper? It may sound unusual at first but paired with this next technique, it’s a great way to make your clothes and towels smelling amazing. All you need is some tissue paper, the prettier the better and your favourite fragrance to spray all over. This is a great routine to get into if you’re forgetful in the mornings and sometimes forget to have a quick spritz before you go out. This way, you’ll have lovely smelling clothes all of the time.
FD Recommends: Jimmy Choo Floral

Make your own diffuser. If you dream of lovely scents filling your home from top to bottom, this next DIY hack is the one for you. All you’ll need is a few wooden reeds. If you have a bottle with a removable head that stands upright, you could go ahead and just pop them in there. Alternatively, if you empty the contents of the perfume into a small jar or vase and add the reeds, you’ll get the same effect!
FD Recommends: Dolce & Gabbana Light Blue
