Your Fragrance
What scent is for you? What fragrance will last the longest? What aroma suits your skin type? Are you overpowering your friends or co-workers with your over enthusiasm for your new fragrance?
Both perfume or cologne with a blend of flowers, citrus or fruit is normally a good choice for day wear. Such perfumes for women can be found from Estee Launder and for men in Marc Jacobs.
For evening wear fragrances which are popular tend to be woody or spicy based fragrances which can be found with brands such as Christina Dior and Ralph Lauren.
Be careful when applying fragrances, some fragrances with a high concentration of oils can stain your clothing and leave unsightly yellow marks (yes I have done this too!) Also, make sure that you do not spray your fragrance directly onto your jewellery because the alcohol in some fragrances can cause yellowness and strip the top coat off plated items.
Remember when you do smell a gorgeous fragrance on someone, it may not smell the same on you, therefore, test your fragrance first and don’t impulse buy because you need to wait 15 minutes or so for the scent to work with your own body’s chemical to know how it truly smells on you.
Besides, if you are in a retail outlet trying different fragrances (and remember no more than 5 at a time or your nose will become incomprehensible towards all the difference scents) it is likely that you will find the same fragrance at a fraction of the price if you hop on your computer and shop for it online.
Because fragrances react to heat and can change due to temperature fluctuations it is a better idea not to wear heavy fragrances in the summer months as these aromas will linger for longer and may become quite overpowering.
If you do have dry skin then you can afford to spray a little more perfume or aftershave because fragrances need oil to give them longevity.
