Funky blue eye shadow shades hit the runways in spring 2008. In Autumn last year it was bright green eye shadow that was the fashion rage.

Blue eye shadow has stood the test of time through 2008 and many major brands such as Dior and Givenchy have produced the colour in their make-up products and their fashion lines which are set to star on the runways throughout the rest of this year and into 2009. Navy blue nail colours for spring 2009 are also set to be popular with the fashion conscious.

The shade of blue does not seem to matter. Any shade is accepted, as long as it is blue. The amount you apply is down to your own discretion too and a deep dramatic blue look and a lighter more powdery look for day wear will set you in trend with your eye shadow.

An increase of bold, bright and dark blues and especially navy eyeliners and mascaras have hit the market for autumn 08 and winter 09 and the colours are so wide in variety, you can match them to your shade of blue eye shadow perfectly.

During the recent autumn and winter catwalk shows, model Proenza Schouler wore deep blue eye makeup which gave a rock chic look, whilst Diane von Furstenberg had lighter grey-blue eyes giving a sultrier and more romantic fashion look.

A metallic blue or violet eye shadow is now applied to the inner eye corners, leaving the outer corners of the eye nearly bare.

Models for Tommy Hilfiger showed their deep blue make-up with the careful use of blue eyeliner alone.
Blue mascara on lashes is very in and again the amount applied is down to you, as both heavy and light application is acceptable. Models who were wearing blue mascara as a barely-there shade at the recent catwalk shows were Thakoon and Diane von Furstenberg.
