Eyelash curlers
This handy piece of equipment is the difference between good lashes and great lashes. It is true that many mascaras and false lashes solve a huge problem in giving the fashionable long lashes look, but even if you decide to use these you haven’t seen their true potential without the eyelash curler.
Eyelash curlers are so popular these days because they really work and as we move to a dark or smoky eyed look this autumn and winter, long and beautifully curled lashes are an absolute must.
This revelation came in the 1920s and was boosted by the 60s long lash look. William Beldue was working at the Kurlash Company in New York and co-invented the eyelash curler. He, along with the Kurlash Company co-held several patents.
Since this clever invention, women (and even the odd man) all over the world have been enjoying this popular piece in their makeup kit.
Put simply, curling your eyelashes will immediately make your eyes brighter and wider.
If you are still looking to find the right type for yourself or as a gift for someone, go for the metal types as they are much better than the plastic sort. To make the best of your curlers, ensure you replace the pads every two months. A quick tip for great results is to gently heat your hairdryer (not a hot setting, just warm) and point it at your curlers for no more than five seconds.
Using eyelash curlers to get the best look:
1. Make sure your eyelashes are completely clean of all make-up, eyelash curlers will work better on clean lashes. Use eye makeup remover just in case you have old mascara.
2. Use the low heat setting and point your hairdryer onto the eyelash curler ends for no more than five seconds. If the metal is hot when you touch it, let it cool for a few seconds or you will burn your eyelid.
3. Open your curler wide and gently clamp the lashes close to the roots. Hold the clamp together for 10-30 seconds.
4. Repeat on your other eye.
Remember:
You must never curl your lashes after you have applied your mascara because lashes will stick to the curlers and be torn from the eyelid roots.
Never bother curling your bottom lashes, it doesn’t look right and is virtually impossible anyway.
Some of the best eyelash curlers you can find are the Maybelline Expert Eyes Eyelash Curlers and the Revlon Lash Curler.
