Issey Miyake launches Summer Loving fragrance

Issey Miyake have just launched their new summer 2009 interpretation of their signature designer fragrance, the top selling ladies perfume L’Eau D’Issey. The famous fragrance bottle designer Philippe Galowich produced the inspired design which is ‘urban landscape’ with colourful lettering and it comes in clear glass.

The limited edition of this summer fragrance, L’Eau D’Issey has been crafted with light notes of rosewater, carnation and mouth watering pear which is very similar to the original but with slight enhancements of precious woods and osmanthus to create a tangy and lighter version for summer.

Diesel’s new home ranges

Fashion and fragrance designer brand Diesel have recently been collaborating with a number of industry experts within the designer home range industry and have produced dual products with Foscarini and Moroso for their Successful Living by Diesel range. The new home range is a vintage meets rock n roll feel with comfy sofas, steel and wood tables and a range of spectacular lamps.

She was accompanied by Chloe Sevigny who looked fantastic dressed head to toe in Chloe along with Sienna Miller and their mutual friend Matthew Williamson, Sienna Miller wore a Matthew Williamson dress.

Do you buy aftershaves and perfumes based only on the smell and whether you feel it suits you or not, or do you buy the fragrance because of the person who is selling it? Other than David Beckham, other famous names who have released celebrity fragrances include; Carlos Santana, Donald Trump and Antonio Banderas. The celebrity fragrance global market now accounts for 40% of the men’s aftershave market.

It has been found that many consumers will base their fragrance purchases on the celebrity that is endorsing the aroma, especially if they admire the celebrity and trust them enough to believe what they are being told is true.

If your favourite celebrity is telling you that that their fragrance is fantastic, by endorsing it then you will want to believe them enough to buy it. In many cases, especially in the case of David Beckham’s Intimately Beckham, it was also revealed than many consumers actually bought the celebrity aftershave without actually smelling it beforehand! Luckily Intimately Beckham is a great aftershave which most people do like!

Lavender has started to make a comeback this summer as many brands are adopting it in their fragrances and body products. The best selling fragrance at luxury beauty firm Neome are their Real Luxury range of candles and organic bath oils which are lavender mixed with rosewood and jasmine. “You can’t beat lavender as a powerful stress-buster,” says Neom’s founder, Nicola Elliott. “At the moment, with all the talk of credit crunch, I think we are seeing a return to luxury products that can soothe your mind and body in an instant.”

Fragrance and makeup brand Lancôme have just launched a new range of its extremely popular Juicy Tubes. There is even a lavender option in the new collection which comes as a pale shade which provides your lips with a hint of glow and smells good enough to eat (sweets).

The brand new make-up collection from fragrance brand Dolce & Gabbana launched officially last week in the UK.

Chloés huge fragrance launch in 2008 is also available in the UK in a new eau de toilette version. The only difference in the packaging is that the ribbon which is tied around the bottle neck is ivory and not the original beige pink.

There are a number of designer fragrance brands that are suddenly working with the number three in mind, whether this is launching three fragrances at a time or advertising three fragrances in one advert at a time. The new approach that fragrance designer such as Jil Sander and celebrity fragrance star Sarah Jessica Parker have adopted along with a number of other brands may be a wiser way to use their marketing budgets, but the adverts also remind the consumer that there are a number of opportunities that can be explored.

Jil Sander has released fragrances for this summer that are paste, her new perfumes include: Blush Pink (which is a woody floral aroma), Soft Yellow (a citrus sunny orange) and Tender Green (a green tea floral scent); this summer her vision is the “nuances of femininity”. Sarah Jessica Parker’s new fragrance trilogy is also based upon a similar principal and tells her consumer to “make every moment lovely”.

Matthew Williamson is a Manchester founded designer label that turns over more than £10 million a year producing handbags, fragrances and clothes. His label is one of the few British design labels that are in the top percent of successful British designers.

At only 37 years old he lives in Primrose Hill in a house that looks like it is straight out of an interior home magazine.

Matthew Williamson has been seen regularly in the press and his close friends and fans of his collections include: Cat Deeley, Helena Christianson, Jade Jagger, Madonna, Sienna Miller, Gwyneth Paltrow and Cheryl Cole.

April 2009 sees the H&M Collection get a welcome designer boost with 20 new pieces of clothing produced by Matthew Williamson which will be available at high street prices in 1,600 H&M stores.

Williamson was quoted in the national press recently saying:

“The idea this time is that every girl who walks into an H&M, whether she’s in Kuala Lumpur or Croydon can go, ‘I can buy this. I’ve never not wanted to dress a celebrity on the grounds that they were too mainstream. I love that Cat’s got that girl-next-door appeal. Cheryl wore an asymmetrical olive dress to some TV awards and we didn’t sell any. Then I was on a TV thing with Mary Portas and we sold, like, five …but it’s not really about sales. It’s about working with people you like. I know what I do looks like a bit of chiffon thrown together in a vague kind of way but it’s actually very technical. In the fashion hierarchy there’s a clear barometer of what’s cool… And I know that there are some people who think I’ve sold out to the mainstream.”

Fashion designer Matthew Williamson who has produced a successful range of designer fragrances under his own name is more commonly known for his collaboration with Debenhams for his fashion and accessories ranging from bags to clothes. Mr Williamson has just produced his new range of clothing and accessories for H&M for 2009.

There seems to be a new fashion trend for exposed zips on clothing. The top two footballer’s wives Cheryl Cole and Victoria Beckham have been seen displaying zips on their dresses as a feature which has now filtered down into high street fashion and currently leading the way as a new trend. Recent reports say that Victoria Beckham “loves this added detail so much she has incorporated full-length gold zips on to every dress in her own 10-piece collection.”

Dame Helen Mirren, the veteran actress and national institution of Great Britain, is now 64 years old and “wowed the crowds” at a State of Play in London’s Leicester Square. Showing she was every inch the star, Dame Helen looked stunning in a figure hugging DKNY dress and Jimmy Choo Shoes.

Fashion icon Kate Moss has finished her latest photo shoot for American Vogue and looks stunning in an expensive designer Oscar de la Renta white taffeta dress. The shots are to be published in the May issue to celebrate the New York 2009 Costume Institute Gala which is sponsored by fashion designer Marc Jacobs. Marc Jacobs commented on Kate Moss saying: “There has been so much written about her personal style. But it isn’t her personal style that interests me, it’s her person.”

Clinique’s Happy in Bloom

The designer fragrance and skin care label Clinique launched their new limited edition fragrance in February. Their new perfume Happy in Bloom is a mixture of delicate charm which includes the aromas of white freesia and yellow plum. The bottle is extremely special and is set to be a collectible which is covered in pink flowers.

Bulgari’s Green Jade

Spring has seen the launch of the latest perfume from Bulgari, Omnia Green Jade.

The new fragrance draws upon the inspiration of stone jade.

Alberto Morillas the master performer and ‘nose’ at Bulgari is the creator of Green Jade which is essentially a fresh, young and flowery scent, with pear blossom and jasmine. The bottle is another creative eye catching design with linking jade green circles which is the symbol of energy and renewal.

Moschino Glamour

The latest of their couture fragrances, Moschino’s Glamour hit the market in March this year this time round they have given this perfume a hyper glam feel. The fragrance is seductive and sexy with combinations of citrus such as tangerine, orchid and amber with the musky Hibiscus.

The perfume bottle is a very bling but classy gold topped bottle which is stunningly designed.
