The celebrity fragrance veteran and the star that almost single-handedly, completely revived the celebrity fragrance market at the ‘kick start’ of the 21st century has continued to expand her own franchise in the market.

Sunkissed Glow was launched in February this year across Europe. The fragrance is part of a collection which she produced in 2003, the unofficial Glow collection, which debuted her ‘new perform Glow’ which was quickly followed by ‘Miami Glow’ and then ‘Love at First Glow’ and finally ‘Glow After Dark’. More recently it has included the aftershave Deseo and Deseo for Men.

J-Lo’s fragrances are technically and aesthetically superlative and her new perfume Sunkissed Glow is described as a fruity/floral scent which features strong notes of waterlillies and fresh passion flowers along with specialised feature notes of gentle fresh orange blossom. The base note that lingers on J-Lo’s new creation includes a rich mix of musk, cashmere wood and soft amber.

The new perfume comes together with a bracelet designed by J-Lo. If you haven’t seen the advertisement which supports the new launch yet, it was shot on the island of Islamorada in Florida.

It is no secret that Yves Saint Laurent has just launched a new masculine scent on 2nd March this year which is endorsed and fronted by the famous French actor Vincent Cassel.

During a recent interview the actor gave the French magazine, Votre Beauté in February 2009, the aftershave is known as ‘La Nuit de l’Homme’ (The Night of the Man), this new bouquet will be the new instalment in the YSL L’Homme franchise for which the last aftershave was fronted by Kylie Minogue’s ex and actor Olivier Martinez.

The new aftershave is described by YSL as a Floral Oriental which has a contrasting personality:

“elegance, mystery and sensuality.”

During his interview, Vincent Cassel said to the magazine;

“I accepted in memory of Yves Saint Laurent himself. He was a superlative creator, a dandy in the real sense of the term as he knew how to preserve his life and mystery. Plus, he loved the night, like me. I used to be a man of the night; I adored those parties at the Palace or at the Bains Douches where everything was possible, where one made improbable friends. This is how I met my buddy Gaspar Noé (the director of Irréversible and of the TV ad for said YSL perfume).”

When he was asked whether he had an interest in fragrances and which aftershave he used he said;

“For me it is an accessory, like a jewel. You will notice that I am not wearing anything (he is all dressed in black), not even a wedding ring. I never put any pressure on myself fashion wise or looks wise. It is my freedom, my luxury, and I want it to remain that way!”

There is an argument to those people who suggest that the perception of a scent is entirely subjective, if that were the case then there would not have been so many copycat scents, many of which were born in the 1980’s with copies of Georgio Beverly Hills and YSL’s Paris perfume not to mention the famous Obsession fragrance that was very popular at that time.

Following in her own footsteps Nina has looked back at her own successes an analysed these first. The new fragrance that has been released by Nina Ricci and is called ‘Love’ by Nina, is a fresh green and fruity scent.

The ‘Granny Smith apple scent’ which is prevalent in the new Ricci creation is also apparent in Light Blue by Dolce & Gabbana; therefore, it is no surprise to note that both these fragrances were the creation of the world famous perfumer Olivier Cresp.

At the offset it appears that perfumers tackled the project of this new fragrance by looking at Ricci’s previous successes which they decided had a common factor which was that of a creamy gourmand structure.

The scent therefore, boasts much in the way of cream and caramel, which will please Nina Riccci’s loyal fragrance customers, it is almost a signature cent of the Nina fan club.

Kate Moss seems to be taking the lead when it comes to celebrity fragrances; her third fragrance is due for release in a few weeks. The scent arrives to the market in time to greet the beginning of spring and summer; Kate has aptly named the fragrance Kate Moss Summer Time. The perfume is a limited edition which has followed her hugely popular scent Velvet Hour.

It is said that her new scent has been created to capture the transient spirit of a season and offers a timeless and dynamic personality; it has been described as fresh and floral.

Kate Moss’s new Summer Time perfume has punchy notes of bitter orange blended with galbanum and cool blackberry. The heart of the perfume is the delicate bouquet of English rose, wisteria, peony, and bluebell (one of her Kate’s favourite ingredients). The lingering base notes of her new creation are mahogany wood, musk and Tonka bean.

Just recently Kate was spotted at a photo shoot in Paris where she appeared for the new Yves Saint Laurent advertisement.

The new perfume commercial which is to run internationally is for the newly anticipated women’s fragrance from Yves Saint Laurent. The picture of Kate that has been reportedly used for the new YSL ad, shows hers holding a rose with a backdrop of the Eiffel Tower.

A spokesman for Kate said;

“Early last week, the supermodel did a shoot in Place de la Concorde for a future women’s fragrance for Yves Saint Laurent, wearing looks from Stefano Pilati’s pre-fall collection for YSL.”

It looks like Jennifer Aniston, who is due to release her own celebrity fragrance later this year hasn’t quite managed to kick her smoking habit yet, however, it certainly isn’t stopping her from staying in shape, says a recent report.

The ex Friend’s star who is heavily into cardio exercise especially before red carpet events manages to juggle her smoking habit with her health habit but perhaps this will only be for a short time.
Joy Dipalma a personal trainer told E News recently;

“The body adapts to things, just like it adapts to good diet and exercise. The more cardio you do, the more lung capacity you get, the more your body rejects those kinds of toxic chemicals. It doesn’t want cigarettes; they taste dirty to you. You get headaches. It’s really common for someone who starts an intensive program to go down from a pack a day to a half-pack a day.”

More news this week is the big split between John Mayer and Jennifer Aniston.

Jennifer Aniston, says the celebrity press feels very raw about the break and now feels that she and John Mayer never really had a ‘real’ relationship.

Jen is said to have dumped John due to his incessant Twittering and is confused and hurt over the break up even though she feels it was a long time coming.

A recent source told an American magazine,

“She would never have paraded him around like that [at the Oscars] if she didn’t think what they had was real. She feels like he played her. Her friends are trying to be sympathetic, but it’s a little hard because they warned her.”

An announcement that came towards the end of 2008 was that the Oscar winning actress Halle Berry had been working closely with Coty developing her own signature celebrity fragrance. The new perfume is to be called, simply, ‘Halle by Halle Berry’ and is being launched as we speak.

Ms Berry is by no means a newbie when it comes to the world of fragrances. She already confesses that she blends her own oils at home, much like ‘Sex in the City’s Sarah Jessica Parker who called it “a wonderful form of self-expression.” Unlike SJP, Halle doesn’t appear to have a favourite sexy combination of scents, but rather enjoys the creative part of the process.

She commented:

“For years I have created my own personal scents by mixing and layering fragrances, trying to come up with something unique and different. It’s a wonderful form of self-expression and I am thrilled to be working with Coty on my debut fragrance.”

From their side of the picture Coty proclaimed that Halle had a global vocation; “…this fragrance will resonate amongst all women around the world, inviting them to reveal their inner beauty, sensuality and strength of character.”

Halle continues to develop the theme of feminine woods presented last year to her as slightly edgy for the mainstream market. The perfume falls into a ‘woody oriental’ category and incorporates notes of fig and luminous mimosa.

The advert was shot on location on a beach in Oahu, Hawaii, by fashion director and photographer Cliff Watts.

CKIN2U His / Her scents

Calvin Klein’s CKIN2U franchise is launching a new his / her duo fragrances later in 2009 called CKIN2U Heat said to be the most sexually explicit CKIN2U launched to date.

Originally, when the duo first launched their designer fragrances, there were sex pheromones flying around everywhere. However, these have been rapidly cooled by the new term “technosexual” which the audience agreed sounded a little inhuman.

CKIN2U Heat’s male and female fragrances both contain alcoholic drink in the accords.

CKIN2U (Her) - is quite a floral fragrance that bares notes of appletini cocktail (orange liqueur, vodka, apple juice), blood orange, almond paste, nocturnal orchid (from the Caribbean) ginger snap, creamy musk, wet cedar wood and sandalwood.

CKIN2U (Him) - is fruity and woody with notes of Caipirinha, juicy pear, coriander, stimulating green mate tea, orris root, ginger, vetiver, birch bark and musk.

Calvin Klein’s Euphoria Spring Temptation

Another fresh and green floral twist to the original 2005 oriental/floral Euphoria scent and the new perfume is a limited edition scent launching any time now. The new fragrance tag line is “Let spring reveal your femininity.” The bottle has been elaborately decorated in the rendition of a tropical garden.

This new limited edition fragrance is suggested by its accompanying advertisement; gives a waterfall accord and plays on the sensations of dewiness as it references notes of guava leaf, pear blossom, pink lily, violet petals and freesia with dew drops of white amber and frosted musk.
