Festive Glam Tutorial

Festive Glam Tutorial

We’re in December, which means it’s officially socially acceptable to walk around with bright red lips and glitter lids all day every day until the new year. Today, Steph from Cocochic is showing you her current go-to festive makeup look featuring products from the Fragrance Direct website.

As usual, the first step is to perfect the base using the W7 Singin in the Rain foundation and conceal any blemishes using the NARS Creamy Concealer – a brand new cult product that has just become available on the FD website!

Once you’ve created a flawless finish, set everything in place using the Daniel Sandler Invisible Veil Powder – an incredibly finely milled powder that gives almost an airbrushed finish to the skin.

Next, slightly sculpt the face using the Collection Contour Kit and add a subtle sheen to the skin using the Technic Strobe Kit. The more glitz, the better. It is Christmas remember!

For the eyes, set the lids in place using the light nude shade from the Technic Fashionita palette and blend a neutral brown shade into the crease to act as a transition shade. Deepen the outer corners by blending the burgundy shade on the outer corners using a fluffy brush, and add a pop of glamour by pressing the copper pigment from the palette onto your lids using a warm finger.

Smoke out the lower lash line and add Revlon’s Ultra Volume mascara to the top and bottom lashes to tie the entire look together!

Finish up with a slick of the NARS Pure Matte lipstick in Amsterdam for a party read pout.

Get The Look: Kylie Jenner at the Met Gala!

Get The Look: Kylie Jenner at the Met Gala!

When Kylie Jenner arrived at the Met Gala in a full-length Balmain gown and a full face of flawless makeup, we just knew we had to recreate the look. Think a perfected base, plump pout and layers of lashes in true KJ style. Here’s how to get the look yourself..

Start by smoothing out the skin using the W7 Porfection primer. Not only will this help to smooth out the skin, but it’ll also keep your makeup on your face all night long! Since the eyes are a huge part of this look, we’ve decided to skip the base (for now) and head straight for the eyeshadow. This is perfect if you’re just starting out with makeup, as it means you can be as messy as you like! Once you clean up with foundation and concealer afterwards, no one will ever know.

For the eyes, we’ve decided to use the Cargo Cosmetics Vintage Escape palette as it contains everything from subtle matte shades to seriously shimmery. Start by applying the shade ‘Harvest moon’ all over the lid to act as a base. Doing this will ensure the rest of your shadow blends seamlessly! Next it’s time to add that transition shade in the crease. The colour ‘Hot Cocoa’ is perfect for this as it’s a one-shade-suits-all kind of colour. Buff it into the crease to give the eyes a little extra definition. Don’t forget to smoke out the bottom lash line!
Now it’s time to have some fun with the eyes. Start by patting the shade ‘Crisp’ over the centre of the lid to give the eyes a subtle shimmer and then follow up with ‘Chestnut’ in the outer corner of the eyes to smoke it all out. Don’t forget to blend!
Next, using a slightly dampened brush (these shadows work so well when wet!) pick up a small amount of the ‘Crisp’ shade again and focus it on the inner corner of the eyes. This will help recreate that glittery look.

Now it’s time to add that super sharp cat eye. To do this we’re using the Bourjois Smokey Eye Effect Eyeliner in the shade Smoked Brown. The texture of this liner is really creamy – perfect for blending – but once it’s set, it’s there all night. Line the waterline using the pencil for that added smokey effect and follow up by roughly draw a line towards the end of your brow. Blend it out using the brush on the end.

What’s a Kylie Jenner look without layers of lashes? For this we’ve decided to use the Revlon Ultra Volume mascara in the shade Blackest Black. Add a few coats on both the top and bottom lashes for a fluttery look. And if that’s not enough? Add some falsies! To keep them looking natural, be sure to fill in the lash line with the shade ‘Black Crow’ from the Vintage Escape palette.

Now it’s time to work on that base! Kylie’s makeup was super glowy for the Met Gala, so we’ve opted to use the Bourjois Happy Light concealer, as it provides a natural, yet medium coverage effect. Complete the base by buffing in the Revlon Colourstay 24 Hour Foundation for a super HD finish.

Of course, we can’t forget about the contour. Using the darkest shade from the Technic Contour Stix Cream Crayons set, carve out the hollows of the cheeks. For extra dimension add the lightest contour colour to the high points of the face and blend, blend, blend! For an extra glow, lightly dust the BareMinerals Warmth bronzer over the face in a ‘3’ shape motion, and follow up by framing the face using the Revlon Brow Fantasy Pencil and Gel set. Set the look with the Clinique Blended Face Powder in the shade Invisible Blend. This will help secure the makeup whilst also adding a natural glow. Finish up with Rimmel’s Provocalips Lip Colour in the shade Skinny Dipping and you’re officially Met Gala ready!

Classic Red Lip Look

Classic Red Lip Look

A red lip never goes out of style, so for today’s tutorial we’ve decided to create an every day red lip look that is sure to take you from work room to ball room in no time at all’

To prep the skin, start by massaging the Technic Prime It Illuminating Face Primer all over the face. Not only will this help to ensure the makeup stays on all night – it’ll also give you that ‘lit from within’ glow that will help perfect the look and texture of the skin. To perfect the skin even further, apply Clinique Even Better Makeup Foundation using a Real Techniques Multi Tasking Brush. The formula of this foundation blends seamlessly into the skin, giving you an almost photoshopped finish. For a little extra coverage, brighten up the under eyes using Rimmel’s Lasting Finish Concealer in the lightest shade. Blend using your fingers for a natural finish.

Next it’s time to sculpt the face. Since we’re keeping this makeup look rather simple, try to stay away for sharp contouring and instead focus on warming up the skin with a natural matte bronzer and rosy blush. The perfect product for a super fresh face? Too Faced’s Natural Face palette, of course! Finish off the face by setting the look with Oriflame’s Beauty Studio Artist translucent Powder.

So with perfect skin, what’s next? Perfect brows of course! To give them a natural but polished look, lightly fill them in using Billion Dollar Brows Brow Powder in taupe. Brush through the brows for a more natural finish, or add a little setting spray to your brush for a super sculpted look. Add a subtle swipe of W7’s Argan Eyes Mascara to the top lashes to complete this seriously simple eye.

And of course, what’s a red lip makeup look, without the red lip!? To ensure your pout stays on all day long, line the lips using Technic’s Lip Liner in red and follow up with Rimmel’s Apocalips Matte Lip Lacquer in Burning Lava. Blot the lips for an extra matte finish, and you’re good to go!
