Choosing the right carry-on hand luggage is half the battle when it comes to short-haul or weekend travel. Most airlines have strict regulations around the size and weight of your bag, but getting it right and packing smart can not only save you money, but also save you valuable time in unpacking and finding everything quicker when you reach your destination.
We’ve teamed up with Storksak to share top tips on how to keep travelling as light and stress free as possible.
Choose The Right Bag
A soft bag or case allows you to squeeze in lots more than a harder case. If you’re travelling by plane, don’t forget to make sure that you adhere to your airline’s regulations by checking weight and dimensions in advance to ensure your luggage fits into the overhead compartments. Storksak’s Cabin Carry-On wheeled bag not only looks great with its unisex and contemporary design, but it also fits into most airline overhead compartments. The Storksak Travel collection has been designed to work cleverly together; the shoulder bag features a back slip pocket which conveniently slots over the frame of the Cabin bag.

Roll, Don’t Fold
Rolling your clothes can save space and prevent creases – it takes a bit more time, but allows you to pack more in. For added storage, place rolled socks, belts and smaller items inside your shoes and see how much space you can save.
The unique packing organiser system comes included in the Cabin and Duffle bags. Shop the Cabin and Duffle here.
Using packing cubes are a great way to save space and stay organised; perfect for separating your clothes and smaller items, so that you can find everything quickly and easily. Storksak’s Cabin Carry-On bag comes with a unique smart fold-away hanging organiser system, complete with matching packing block. The organiser system allows you to pack your clothes into each compartment separated into underwear, clothes, toiletries.
You can even create your own bespoke compartments using the easy to adjust velcro shelves. Once you arrive at your destination, you just lift out the internal organiser system and hang inside a wardrobe or door. Simply pack, remove and hang up!

Scale It Down
Swap those heavy books for a kindle and keep all your entertainment on a tablet which take much less space and weight. Don’t forget to make sure all your electronic devices are charged – there’s nothing worse than realising you have low battery when travelling. It goes without saying that you need to pack the different chargers for each of your devices.
Make sure you keep all your cables neatly stored away in your bag’s pockets so they don’t get tangled and are easy to find when you’re on the move.
Shop the Storksak Travel Collection which has plenty of pockets to keep you organised.

Our hair can often get a little damaged after the heat of the summer sun (not to mention any damage done if you’ve been lucky enough to swim in the sea or the pool). It can also be extra vulnerable to heating tools in the winter, meaning that staying away from heat styling is the best way to keep your locks looking healthy, soft and shiny in the colder months.
From braids to buns and ponytails to up-dos, whether you have short, long, or medium length hair, we’ve put together a guide on the best heat-free hairstyles to keep your locks looking amazing throughout the winter.
Hairstyles for short hair
The Red-Carpet Sidepart
Short hair parted to one side is a timelessly feminine and glamorous look – think Claire Foy on the red carpet. What’s more, it’s super easy and quick to do.
Use a thin-toothed comb to part your hair to one slide. Then, use a gel, like Wella Shockwaves Extra Strong Hold Gel to slick your hair in place without any stiffness. Quick, easy and super glam.
The Half Bun
This style is a life saver for the girl on the go. It’s quick, easy and always looks cute (even if you’ve not washed your hair for a week).
Brush your hair with a wide-toothed comb and add some Salt Spray, like Osmo Matt Sea Salt Spray for texture. Now, gather half your hair (between your left and right temples) into a ponytail and tie it with a hair elastic. Then, divide your half ponytail into three equal sections and twirl and roll up each section, clipping them to the top of your head. Have a little play around with the style until you find the perfect balance of smart and messy.
Finishing this look with some light hold hairspray will ensure it stays looking cool all day.
The Side Braid
The side braid is a look that can be worn to work, on a night out or even on holiday and is perfect if you’ve gone a few days without washing your hair.
All you need is a comb, some hairpins and an elastic hair tie. Comb your hair and tie it up while leaving a section at the front out of the ponytail. Then, braid this section in a Dutch braid until the end and secure it with an elastic band. Pull on the braid a little bit to make it bigger and more voluminous, and then pin it to the side of your head.
To go for the full “pin-up” look, you can wrap a scarf around the back of the braid and secure the front with a little hairspray.
Medium Length Hair
The Double French Braid
Kim Kardashian rocks it, and now you can too. The double French braid is perfect for keeping your medium length hair out of your face, ideal to help you stay looking glam at the gym or while playing sports.
This one is a little complicated to explain (but very easy to do), so we recommend checking out a tutorial on YouTube such as this one. Try it a couple of different ways and you’ll find a technique that you love.
Ponytails are a classic look whatever your hair type, and the side-swept ponytail will add an extra level of glamour to your day-to-day look.
Use a small amount of hair mousse such as Aussie Miracle Styling Mousse Volume & Conditioning on damp hair and make sure it’s covered from root to tip. Then, once your hair is completely dry, create a deep side part in your hair with a fine-toothed comb, and brush your hair over to the opposite side.
Gather your hair into a low ponytail at the side of your neck and secure with an elastic hair tie. Try spreading your hair over your shoulder for a more sophisticated look.
The Simple Messy Bun
The simple messy bun is a great way to look cool and carefree, and has just enough glamour to take you from day to night. It’s also super quick and simple to do – perfect for those mornings you might have slept through your alarm!
Simply tie your hair into a high ponytail, then grab the ends and twist. Wrap the twist around your ponytail and secure it with an elastic hair tie. Once the bun is secure, pull out small strands from both the top and the bottom to create a messy look.
To secure the bun spray some firm hold hairspray like Charles Worthington Style Setter Strong Hold Hairspray to keep the strands in place.
Hairstyles for long hair
The Tuck and Cover French Braid
This style is simple and elegant, and works best when you use a headband to wrap your hair around.
Grab the front section of your hair, and braid a French braid over the top of the headband, down towards the left ear. Then, wrap the back section of your hair around the headband in three parts. If there is any hair in the hairband, make sure to tuck it in tight.
Secure it with some hairspray and you should be good to go!
The Party Ponytail
This is an amazing style for those blessed with long hair, especially if you have an event where you can wear a backless dress!
Start by teasing out your hair with your fingers, leaving it soft and tangle-free. Then, use a comb to backcomb under the crown of your hair for fullness. Starting from behind your ears, section off your hair and pull the back section into a ponytail. Twist the right side of your hair over the hair-tie and then repeat with the left slide.
You’ll look amazing with minimum effort, leaving you more time to party!
Half Up Half Down
This style has a lovely feminine look to it, and if you’re feeling particularly girly, you can accessorise with a bow at the back!
Using a comb, tease the crown of your hair to add volume. Then, smooth over the top layer of your crown without combing out the teasing. Gather small sections of your hair in the middle of your head (just under the section you teased) and secure with bobby pins. Gather the sections of hair around your face and tie them together with a small rubber band just above where your bobby pins are located. Then you can add the bow if you want!
Whatever type or length of hair you have, there are many heat free, DIY hairstyles that will get you through the colder months. It’s the perfect time to give your hair a rest while still looking chic and stylish.

It’s usual for us to feel a little bit mopey during this time of year. The nights are getting colder and the chill of winter is setting in. It also seems far easier to become stressed, and why wouldn’t it? Christmas is fast approaching and nothing is prepared, car doors are frozen shut and the heating bills have started to creep up…
Well, winter doesn’t have to be all doom and gloom; the colder months are great for so many things! Wrapping up in soft jumpers, buying Christmas presents for friends and family and taking long, hot, relaxing baths are some of our favourite perks of winter. And just in time for all that loveliness, we bring you the perfect accompaniment to a relaxing and rejuvenating bath – scented candles.
The right scented candle isn’t only perfect for relaxation, it can make your entire home smell wonderful and provide you with the perfect finishing touch to your décor. What’s more, they make great presents! Obviously, we recommend buying them for yourself first so you can trial them and figure out which brands and scents you love (gift-giving is better the more relaxed you are).
We’ve put together a list of the best candles that will keep you relaxed and feeling good all winter:
WoodWick Exotic Spices Trilogy Large Candle
If you’re looking to evoke all the lovely feelings of winter – crackling fires, woody scents and hot mulled wine – this candle is perfect for you.
WoodWick candles are famous for the soothing sound of crackling log fire that they make when burning, so this spicy number is a great way to create a cosy, wintry mood in your home. With three exotic scents in the mix, Cinnamon Chai, Ground Cinnamon and Spiced Rum, this candle will transport you to exotic climates for as long as it burns – hopefully all winter.
Heart & Home Votive Candle Pink Blossom
Your favourite flowers may not be in bloom this season, but that doesn’t mean you should be without the smell of beautiful bouquets in your home. This pink blossom candle layers dahlia and cherry blossom with deep but subtle hints of molten amber, and burns for a full 15 hours. It also looks very pretty, which makes it a great addition to any room.
Shearer Candles Triple Wick Neroli Jar Candle
If minimalism is your style, the Shearer Neroli candle will make a great addition to your home. Not only does it emit a sweet, relaxing citrus scent, but it comes in a beautifully minimalistic Molton silver glass. It looks good, it smells good, and it will definitely help you to de-stress after a long day.
Village Candle Coffee Bean Jar
Is there any smell that’s quite so universally loved as freshly brewed coffee? Well, now you don’t have to walk to your local coffee-shop to get your morning hit. Light this Village Coffee Bean Jar, sit back and breathe in the empowering aromas from your own home.
With its mix of roasted espresso beans, nutty pecans and the vanilla undertone of rich Tonka beans, this sweet candle is sure to impress anyone who’s lucky enough to catch a whiff.
Llewelyn Bowen Dusk Candle
This candle is a fantastic room decoration – its gorgeous violet tones and elegant patterns come from top designer Lawrence Llewelyn-Bowen, evoking luxury and glamour. With its captivating scent mix of light, subtle spices, underlaid with a deep base of Cedarwood, Amber and Musk, this scented sensation transforms any room into a relaxing and sensual haven.
What’s even better about this candle is that it’s the perfect gift for a loved one, even the box is decadently designed. If you’re all about the me-time, don’t worry! Nobody can blame you for wanting to spoil yourself with this luxurious treat after a hard day.
