Art Deco is back in fashion for 2009

Category: General

We are beginning to touch the Art Deco trend already and it’s set to carry on through to 2009.

The 1920s flapper look is a major influence. There are elements of the whole era showing in our clothes, hair and make-up as 2008 draws to a close.

The influence began with Art Nouveau and follows through to the infamous 1940s silver screened glamour of the starlets. Curved lines, geometric shapes and exotic influences are all defined in this era.

This goes for makeup too. Eyebrows are shaped and darkened into tidy curved lines and lips are the popular red of the 1940s screen heroine. Blusher is more clearly defining the cheekbone and popular colours are shades of red and pink.

Clothes are starting to get more daring in deeper more contrasting shades. We are no longer looking for a complete matching outfit. It is a shot of colour in the depth of our clothing that gives us the cutting edge look and once again red is the popular shade.

Winter 2008/spring 2009 encourages bold contrasting colours in our lipstick, eye shadow, make up, blusher and clothing. This type of fashion requires us to be brave and to experiment. It also allows us to open our minds to colours and shapes that we would never have considered before.
