Charlotte Tilbury, founder of Charlotte Tilbury
You’ve heard of the brand, but did you know the
makeup and skincare brand shares the name of its founder? Charlotte has been
interested in makeup since she was a girl growing up between London and Ibiza
(dream!), meeting artists and creatives through her painter father. She went on
to train at the Glauca Rossi School of Makeup, working as a MUA throughout the
Today, Charlotte Tilbury’s makeup and skincare
ranges are readily available, providing women everywhere with easy-to-choose
and easy-to-wear options for daily life and special occasions.
Sam Chapman and Nicola Haste, founders of Real Techniques
Sam and Nicola Chapman launched the first Real Techniques
brush collection in 2011, but their story started years earlier. The British
sisters grew up surrounded by makeup, with their aunt working as a top MUA in
London and their mum also interested in following the latest trends.
After several years of hustle, training and
working in the industry, the pair set up their YouTube channel Pixiwoo, which
took off quickly thanks to the sister’s undeniable talent and natural charisma.
Real Techniques came about as the answer to a demand for high-quality,
professional standard makeup tools for the masses.
Supporting Real Techniques means the very best
makeup brushes, sponges, and tools for you, and a sign of support to the
English sisters who’ve overcome so much to create a brand for women. We salute
Clare and Rebecca Hopkins, founders of Balance Me
Another sister act, Clare and Rebecca Hopkins
are the self-made founders of Balance Me, one of
our favourite natural beauty brands. Balance Me is all about finding balance in
your life. That’s work, wellness, relaxation, time with family and friends; you
get the idea! Clare and Rebecca are big into yoga and wellness, which led them
into creating an honest, natural skincare range that makes self-care a little
easier for everyone.
These inspirational women are influencing the
industry with their fresh approach to skincare, and we’re here to support them
every step of the way.
Now, more than ever, we’re obsessing over hygiene but
while everyone is hitting the shops panic buying and emptying the shelves, they’re
all missing a trick. There is a rather well-known ingredient that often appears
in a lot of blemish-tackling skincare products that can actually double up as a
This incredible brand’s iconic body wash can actually also
be used to substitute your regular hand wash. It’s super refreshing and
effectively cleanses the skin by removing all bacteria and excess oil without
causing dryness. The anti-bacterial Tea Tree Oil restores the skin’s natural protection
while the glycerine adds moisture and helps the skin maintain a proper balance.
What’s better is that you can use it all over!
Tea Tree Oil is a high action antiseptic that can not only
give a deep-down treatment to minor skin troubles such as blemishes, spots,
insect bites and more, it can effectively fight against many bacteria. This natural
anti-bacterial oil also has antiviral properties that will help to keep your
skin hygienically clean whilst maintaining its natural PH balance too. Now isn’t
that just a miracle in a bottle.
If you wanted to go a step further, you could also use it
with other products to create your very own bottle of hand sanitiser by
following this recipe from Healthline.
All you’ll need is:
¾ cup of rubbing alcohol
¼ cup of Aloe Vera (to counteract the harshness of alcohol)
10 drops of Tea Tree Oil
Pour all the ingredients into a bowl
Mix the solution with a spoon and then beat with a whisk to turn the sanitiser into a gel-like formula
Pour the ingredients into an empty bottle for easy use, and label it “hand sanitiser”
This antiseptic cream is great especially if you suffer with
dryness to keep your skin moisturised and sanitised. If you are going to
be washing your hands more than normal and using sanitising products containing
alcohol, it’s definitely worth keeping on top of using hand cream too.
Do you have any hygiene hacks? Will you be taking inspiration from Australian Bodycare’s iconic ingredient Tea Tree Oil? There’s no need to stress or worry about getting your hands on little tubs of hand sanitiser that are often very overpriced for what you get when you can take steps of your own to make your own sanitising solutions with the help of a powerful, ingenious oil!
WFH has become one of the most used phrases on the internet
right now, with the outbreak of Coronavirus its super important to make sure
we’re all being as safe as possible and limiting the spread of the virus as
much as we can.
Working from home can be a bit of a novelty for a couple of
days but when it gets down to it, we all still need to crack on with the to do
lists and keep going. Working at home has many distractions for those of us who
aren’t used to it so we thought it would be a good idea to share our top tips
on how to be your most productive self!
Wake up at your normal time
If you’re normally in the office at 9am,
ensure that you wake up and get yourself ready as you would usually (by all
means, if you commute then have that extra half an hour to yourself!). Sticking
to a routine makes it much easier to carry on with your work, if you start
taking long lie ins, you’ll end up working long into your evenings trying to
get everything done!
Again, this about trying to stick to routine.
If you stay sat in your PJ’s all day, it’s going to feel like Christmas. We’re
not saying to need to sit in your jeans or a suit and tie but just make sure
you get up, shower and get yourself dressed… loungewear is totally ok by the
Set up a work-space away from your living
If you can, set up somewhere you can work
away from where you normally relax. This can be difficult if you live in a flat
or don’t have anywhere to create a ‘mini office’. But try to keep your work
life as separate as you can. This will help to create some sense of normality
of work time/free time.
Make a ‘to do’ list every day
Make sure you set yourself a list of tasks
you want to get completed in the day. This will help you keep on track of where
you’re up to and give you clear motivation for the day ahead. Ranking these in
priority order will help to make sure you get urgent tasks done first and then
if you don’t get to the bottom of the list, these can roll over to the next
day. Much like you would do if you were in the office.
Use technology to stay connected to your
Working from home can make you feel a bit
cut off from the world and particularly if you’re not used to it. There’s so
much technology that makes it super easy to stay connected with your colleagues
so make sure you use it. Instant messaging and video calls are essential to
check back in with your co workers and keep on top of the tasks you’re doing.
Communicate expectations with anyone else
in the house
It’s a very weird time we’re experiencing
at the moment and now with school closures to add to the mix, there might be a
lot more people in the house than usual. Make sure you communicate to everyone
else that you might be at home, but you are ‘working’ and that they need to
Take regular breaks
It’s essential that you take regular breaks
from your work otherwise you’ll end up getting constantly distracted. When
you’re in the office we all often take breaks by having a chat with colleagues,
making hot drinks etc. so you still need to make sure you plan these in at home
to ensure when you can come back and get on with a task productively.
Do some exercise
Moving your body and switching off from
work is essential for productivity. Take a walk round the park, do a YouTube
home workout or stretch out on your yoga mat. Just take some time to switch off
and move your body throughout the day.
Try to maintain as much routine as possible,
like you would normally in the office. If you usually finish work at 5pm, log
off and switch your computer off for the night! It can be easy when you’re
working from home to lose the sense of routine but what you need to remember is
that this is essential for making sure you carry on as productively as you can!
Self-isolation calls for a spot of self-care and what
better way to do that than to indulge in pamper and beauty goodies? There’s no
need to start panicking or counting down the time until cabin fever sets in
when you’ve finally got the chance to pamper and be productive. Let’s make
the most of it and what’s more, they’re all super affordable too!
Look at that, a 14 day trial kit just in time for those first couple of weeks working in your new (albeit make-shift) home office. This stunning collection from Gatineau features their Radiance Enhancing Gommage Peeling Expert Exfoliator, Melatogenine AOX Serum and Age Benefit Integral Regenerating Cream. With this set by Urban Veda, you can drift away to a pamper paradise morning or evening with luscious products to soothe your and calm your skin. Featuring their Soothing Body Wash, Soothing Body Scrub and Soothing Body Lotion in a quaint drawstring cotton bag, this set is worth every penny.
If you suffer with problematic skin and feel like you’re constantly battling off one spot after another, we’ve got the perfect solution in store for you to give your skin that extra little bit of TLC while you’re WFH. This spot stick is made with soothing tea tree oil in a non-greasy, anti-bacterial formula with a touch of witch hazel to sink into your skin and help fight the breakouts. You can apply this to any problem area, 3 to 4 times a day – good job we’re all at home, makeup-less with more than enough time to do so!
While we’re all sat at home working each day, it’s probably fair to say that not too many of us will be putting on a full face of makeup everyday because, well, what better time to let our skin breathe? However, if you’re still after a little something in the form of a nice glow, this BB cream from NOTE has got you covered. It features citrus and grape extracts to help diminish dark spots along with vitamin E to rejuvenate your skin. It’s also vegan and cruelty-free which is a bonus of course!

Finally, a little something random that you probably haven’t thought much about… While you’re WFH, why not finally sort out all your makeup bits and bobs? Of course, you’ll keep your trusty bag for travel but what’s to stop you from organising your palettes and special occasion lipsticks? This tidy white cosmetic organiser by LaRoc is the perfect place to start – especially if you have a vanity desk to accessorise.
