Dainty Doll Concealer Pen 001¶ÿ

 

I’ve always wanted to try an actual face product from this range – and seeing as I don’t wear foundation (plus I’m a huuuge concealer¶ÿjunkie!) I thought I’d try this. It’s in the lightest colour available, and it’s absolutely perfect for us Snow Whites! Your concealer is supposed to be a shade lighter then your skin, which has proven absolutely impossible with the lightest concealer I’ve used (Collection 2000) just about my skin colour – until now! This concealer pen is off white, easily blendable and fairly sheer, so it will match your pale shade to a ‘T’! Though somewhat sheer, dark circles can be completely banished – WIN! It’s so easy to apply also, just clickety click and apply using the brush – DOUBLE WIN! I can’t wait to try more Dainty Doll products, and especially on Fragrance Direct – discount heaven! Tigi Bed Head Control Freak Hair Serum

 

I’m Becca, and I’m a serum-holic! (No?) I decided to finally purchase this as I found it on Fragrance Direct for a tenner! I have tried so many serums and oils in my time, so why not try Bed Head? I have naturally VERY thick wavy hair, and I rarely¶ÿuse heat on it – what you see is au naturale! Any wavy/curly haired girlies, you will know, without heat, our hair can be hard to control/manage! Enter hair serum! This serum didn’t weigh down my hair at all, and a little goes a long way.

It didn’t make my hair sticky, nor greasy – but soft, silky, under control and managed my ickle flyaways! So far, I’m really liking this product, but will it replace my L’oreal serum? I don’t THINK so… but look how sparkly!

 

Lolita Lempicka L’Eau en Blanc Eau de Parfum Spray

 

I tried a sample of this many moons ago (or sometime last year) and I loved it, it was such a romantic, flirty fragrance giving off floral notes with a somewhat dreamy aroma – just all round girly! This perfume features Iris and Violet Leaf top notes, middle notes of Raspberry, Violet, Sour Cherry and Licorice, with base notes of Musk, Vetiver, Tonka Bean and Heliotrope – though in our terms, a young, sweet fragrance! Perfect for both day and evening wear. Plus, look how cute the bottle is!

 

The rest of the items I purchased are nail polishes from two of my fave brands – Essie and OPI -¶ÿboth hugely discounted on Fragrance Direct; Essie’s RRP is £7.99, but here it’s £1.99 only! *Dances*

This week, something so fabulously glamorous has touched base here at the Fragrance Direct office. After much anticipation, lusting over and longing for, Jimmy Choo ‘Flash’ is now available to buy on site. We love this fragrance; if not for the intoxicating scent, then for the glitz and the glam of the bottle. There’s nothing quite like a review to get us excited and intrigued by a new perfume.

 

Before we get started, let’s take a look back at the Jimmy Choo legacy. The story began when Jimmy Choo was born in Malaysia in 1961. With a father who worked as a shoe cobbler, Jimmy quickly learnt the family skill from his elders, demonstrating a natural talent in craftsmanship from a very early age. By the age of 11, Jimmy Choo had manufactured his first pair of shoes; a touchstone moment for the boy who would later become one of the most celebrated shoe designers in the world. Starting off by opening his first shop in an old hospital building situated in Hackney, London, in 1986, Jimmy Choo soon found acclaim within the glossy magazine pages of publications such as VOGUE and it wasn’t long before his designs found themselves on the feet of royalty, with the late Princess Diana being part of his growing fan base.

 

By the new millenium, Choo was a global brand. Fast forward 13 years and the story is still being written, with the introduction of fragrances to the famous fashion house. Flash is the sixth perfume in the Jimmy Choo perfume range, with the first fragrance released in 2011. As a relatively new player to the fragrance game, what can we expect from Choo’s latest release?

The Inspiration

 

You’re getting ready for a night out with your friends. You’ve put together the perfect outfit, your hair is sitting impeccably well and your skin has never felt so flawless. There’s a rush of anticipation of what the evening has in store. You know that flutter of butterflies in your stomach? That feeling is what Jimmy Choo wanted to pinpoint and bottle as his newest fragrance. Never one to stray too far from the concept of shoes, Choo felt that the perfume should represent the feeling of empowerment when one slips their feet into that sexy pair of heels. A white bouquet of flowers is the image you should envisage when you think of Flash. Although the smell is deeply feminine, Flash wants to capture the adrenaline experienced when you’re planning for an unpredictable evening in the city. Flash is a risk taker, an urban individual and a convention shaker.

 

 

The All Important Asthetics

 

 

Before we even begin to look at the bottle, we need to take a moment to drink in the packaging. The Flash box is glitzy down to a T. Sparkles, sparkles and more sparkles. It is so pretty to the eye that you couldn’t imagine discarding it when it comes to actually taking your bottle out of the box. Almost like a shimmering disco ball, the Flash packaging keeps in line with the glamorous theme of the fragrance and is all round winner in our eyes.

When designing the ‘Flash’ bottle, Jimmy Choo wanted it to be an addition to any woman’s accessory collection. You know that overwhelming sense of excitement when you purchase a new pair of shoes or a handbag? That same emotion is what Choo wants you to feel when you clap your eyes on this bottle. Like a fine piece of jewelry, Flash wants you to admire the ‘makeup’ of this bottle. Appreciate the little touches that capture your gaze, such as the crystal palette and the mesmerizing effect the of the rigged edges. The design was made so that light bounces off the bottle, creating the illusion of a ‘flash’, so as to keep in line with the fragrance title. The lavender shade adds to the integrity of the bottle and this colour was chosen to represent the ultraviolet lights of a nightclub; a place where paparazzi-style photographs are frequently taken.

 

 

The Recipe

 

 

There are a lot of ingredients which go into a making a perfume the ultimate sense experience. Jimmy Choo Flash is primarily a provocative fragrance. It was created for the self confident, outspoken individual. You can be sexy and sophisticated with just a touch of rebellion when wearing Flash. Jimmy said that when he thought of the perfume, he imagined an effortlessly stylish woman, clicking her Choos through the streets of Paris, New York and London. The scent opens with strawberry, tangerine and pink pepper. Given time to settle, Flash transforms into a fresh cocktail of white flowers, jasmine and white lily. This sparkling perfume is then beautifully rounded off with a base of white, powdery woods to leave a long lasting impression.The smell is magnetic, drawing you in to the Flash ‘story’.

Becca from the amazing Voussontbeauetbelle blog and Youtube channel is here to tell us all about how she began her blog and Youtube accounts which now collectively boast over 100k subscribers! A beauty lover, just like ourselves, Becca makes inspiring videos which make us want to delve into the world of this make-up master and find out what her beauty essentials are and just why blogging is¶ÿthat¶ÿgood.

When and why did you start fashion and beauty blogging/vlogging?


When I was diagnosed with M.E and epilepsy (pull out your violins!) I was essentially housebound – I’ve recovered from both now though – therefore I became extremely bored and lonely. I began watching Youtube videos on fashion/beauty channels, not realizing it was actually a thing and I thought it looked fabulous. It inspired me to start filming things, such as what I’d purchased, but not for Youtube, for my own personal viewing! Along with M.E, memory loss occurs, and my short term memory was non existent – so in order to remember things I’d bought, I’d film it! I did that for a little while, but longed to be a member of the Youtube community. As I was housebound, human contact was somewhat rare! I uploaded my first video about two years ago now, wowzers! I still love uploading videos to this day, my content is well received and I just love talking to my viewers! Speaking of viewers, when I gained 15 subscribers, I ran around my house like an excited toddler, so you can imagine how I feel now with my 115,000+ subscribers! I mainly stick to uploading videos about passions of mine – fashion, lifestyle, self esteem, body image, beauty and sometimes videos of my everyday life. Though it is my ‘job’, I never, ever take myself seriously – I laugh at myself, and make up words when I can’t think of the right one – I’m a normal 18 year old girl, keepin’ it real! Making videos definitely has it’s ups and downs, it doesn’t come with troll/hate warnings unfortunately!

 

Though all in all, it’s improved my confidence phenomenally, has been an amazing ongoing experience, and has given me some of the best friends, that without Youtube, I’d never of had the chance to meet!

 

The day I had those 15 subscribers, never could I have ever imagined what was to come – and I’m lucky enough to say that Youtube is my job, and has provided me with some amazing opportunities such as working with many brands. It really is amazing.

 

I’ve actually done things fairly backwards. Normally, blogging comes first and then creating a Youtube channel follows. However, I take different paths to most people in all things – online and in real life! I’ve actually only been blogging for a month, and I LOVE it! Why didn’t I do this before!? I’m very into the layout and design of magazines, and I hope my blog shows that. It consists of similar topics to my Youtube channel, though mainly focuses on fashion. I started blogging to simply grow and expand my Youtube channel, and it’s already got a rather tasty following. I’m so grateful to each and every one of my viewers/readers, they make this all possible and I feel very blessed to have them all in my life!

 

What’s the best thing about blogging?

 

Expressing myself and interacting with my viewers! Fashion is a hard industry to get into and I think I’ve had enough stress to last a lifetime, ¶ÿso it’s an amazing way to express your love of fashion without the commitment. I’m my own boss!

 

Another extreme plus of making videos is the many, many amazing messages and letters I get from viewers. Knowing that I brightened someone’s day brightens MY day – it’s very humbling. A quote I’ve always loved is ‘Attitudes are contagious, make yours worth catching’¶ÿ- therefore due to me being quite an animated, smiley person, getting told that I am the reason for THEIR smile is out of this world.

 

As a student, I don’t have a lot of free time, but when I do, blogging and vlogging completely free my mind of the hardships of education and as a mental health and psychiatry student, it can be very draining! Uploading three times a week can be hard at times, but I’m pleased to say that my viewers are very understanding when I can’t upload. They’re all good eggs!

 

What’s your all time favourite fragrance?

 

Marc Jacobs ‘Daisy’ – yummers! It’s been the only scent I’ve worn for over a year now, I’m sure it’s turned into my natural scent! (If¶ÿonly!) It’s the perfect summer fragrance, yet it’s not an overpowering floral smell, so for me, it’s an all year round perfume! Plus, how delish is the bottle? I was actually introduced to Daisy by my mum, what a keeper!

 

What beauty essentials can you not live without?

 

Rimmel Glam Eyes Day to Night Mascara and any form of eyebrow gel! I’m loving¶ÿthose big brows. I’m pretty laid back about beauty as I’ve been blessed with my mum’s skin and would happily go out without makeup, and rarely wear it at home! Although without my mascara and brows, I’d be a bit lost on an important outing! I also HAVE to have my nails painted somehow, we can’t have naked hands now can we?

 

What’s your favourite nail polish brand?

 

I’d have to say Essie! Although my collection used to be a rather small one (due to the price, usually £7.99 each – eek!), now, it’s rather large!

Fragrance Direct has rekindled my love for the brand – £1.99 for a full size Essie polish? I’m IN!


If you could only use one make-up product, what would it be?


Mascara! 100%!


Last but not least, can you finish this sentence? “I love Fragrance Direct because..”

Why would you NOT check on FD for a product that you’re willing to pay full price for, when you could save mega £££! When my chummy Charlie – another FD lover! – (she has a beauty & fashion channel too! Find her here) and I were talking about Essie, I was expressing my lust for the brand, but heartbreak due to the price. She replied with ‘GO ON FRAGRANCE DIRECT, they’re like, £1.99’ and I was in disbelief! She was right! I purchased four Essie polishes right away, which at RRP would have set me back £32 (and at that price I’d rather have a dress!). Instead, it cost me just £8! The same price as one! Nothing feels quite as good as freshly coated nails. You can easily achieve that little bit of glamour by visiting your favourite nail salon to treat yourself to a manicure, but this can just as easily be achieved from the comfort of your own home.


Here at Fragrance Direct, we wanted to show you a quick, cheap and easy way to achieve a popular summer nails look. Here we have our floral summer nails trend which is inspired by all the lovely floral patterns we keep seeing on endless amounts of fabrics! From flowing maxi dresses to high waisted trousers, floral patterns are everywhere. Read our step by step guide on how to achieve this creative summer nail look which will quickly become your favourite NOTD (Nail Of The Day, for those of you who didn’t know).


Step 1:

Apply two coats of Sally Hansen’s Complete Salon Manicure in the shade ‘Yellow Kitty’ to achieve a vibrant yellow that works as a strong base for the colours to come.

Step 2:

Take an¶ÿEssie¶ÿpolish in the shade ‘Bond With Whomever’ and gently apply leaf-like strokes over your base coat.

Step 3:

Use an¶ÿOPI¶ÿpolish in the shade ‘If You Moust, You Moust’ to begin creating the floral pattern. Do this by applying gentle ‘splodges’ of the polish and try to avoid getting any around the edges of the nail.

Step 4:

For the final touches, gently dab Sally Hansen’s Complete Salon Manicure in the shade ‘Lavender Cloud’ in the middle of the bright pink shade. Do this with a bobby pin or Q-tip to achieve the delicate flower petal look.
