Mark Vanderloo in the new DKNY ‘Men’ advertisements

Category: Fragrance

The latest designer aftershave from Donna Karan New York that launched in March this year was DKNY Men. Male model, Mark Vanderloo is the celebrity face to endorse the newest DKNY male fragrance and in fact the whole of the DKNY male fragrances in 2009.

The huge advertising campaign for DKNY Men has been the catalyst that has spurred a huge amount of attention for the new cologne, with tens of millions of US dollars already spread the fragrance message loud and clear to its global audience.

Mark Vanderloo has worked with DKNY’s fashion label in the past where he featured in a 1990s advertisement for jeans and t-shirts. Additionally Mark has also been the face of Hugo Boss’s aftershave Boss Soul, therefore he is no novice when it comes to aftershave launches and fragrance endorsements.

The citrus and floral aftershave which is DKNY Men is also a mix of woody aromas and was created by two famous perfumers Harry Fremont and Alberto Morillas and took them over a year to produce. The design of the aftershave bottle is highly unique and has been inspired by the famous American Flat Iron Building.
Donna Karan recently commented; “DKNY Men is all about the man and the city. It takes a certain kind of guy to live and thrive in New York [and] I wanted a scent to speak to his unique style and strength. That is why we chose Mark Vanderloo to represent both DKNY fashion and fragrance. He embodies the DKNY Man.”

EstĂ©e Lauder’s Trudi Loren commented; “DKNY Men gave us the chance to build from the ground up what would resonate with men, and the soul, power and sophistication of New York — the energy it evokes.”

Christian Dior’s Miss Dior flanker - Miss Dior Cherie L’Eau

Category: Brands, Perfume

The fabulously delicious Christian Dior flanker to Miss Dior is Chérie and has just launched this year.
Miss Dior Chérie was originally brought to the fragrance market during 2005 as an Eau de Parfum concentration. Miss Dior Chérie was followed by another fragrance during 2007 and this time in the Eau de Toilette version.

In 2008 there was a vernal twist in the Dior flankers Eau de Printemps and Miss Dior ChĂ©rie as they produced a summer version with the Christian Dior, ‘Miss Dior ChĂ©rie Blooming Bouquet’.
This year following the previous success of Dior fragrance flankers to Miss Dior there is a brand new, innovative adaptation to this year’s flanker Miss Dior ChĂ©rie, L’Eau. This new fragrance is available in the perfume concentration Eau de Toilette version.

Perfumer François Demachy who has played an important part in the creation of the latest fragrances recently stated; “I wanted to create a perfume that is simple in its writing, in its alchemy on the skin, in its perception. It is fresh, sparkling and soft.”The key fragrance notes include bigarade orange (which is the purest oil from the fruit of bitter orange), along with gardenia and white musks.

50 Cent launches his ‘Power’ to the fragrance market

The new celebrity aftershave that is the talk of most high fashion news sites is 50 Cent’s new fragrance which is called ‘Power.‘ The aftershave is due to be launched in 2010 and will be the first from the world famous American rapper and actor.

50 Cent was born Curtis James Jackson III and his debut celebrity fragrance will be launched worldwide at the beginning of 2010 following in the footsteps of other such celebrity fragrances as Sean Paul’s ‘I Am King’ and ‘Unforgiveable.’

50 Cent’s has used many Calvin Klein fragrances in the past and he has also reported his love for Armani. The singer however wanted something special for his new celebrity aftershave, something that he felt would smell of success and he is said to have achieved this.

The fragrance has been designed to appeal to a “universal” market which goes way beyond the frontiers of the United States of America and the tastes of the American market.

The singer recently commented that in the neighbourhood he had grown up in (South Jamaica in New York’s Queens), the fragrance and aftershave culture amongst his childhood friends was relatively restricted to deodorant.

The head perfumer Harry Fremont of the fragrance brand Firmenich has developed the new 50 Cent designer aftershave which produces the top notes of lemon leaves, Artemisia and black pepper. When this aftershave dries down it produces the aroma of patchouli, oakmoss and musk.

Halle has one of the most sophisticated celebrity fragrances for 2009

The celebrity fragrance by Halle Berry is just as popular as the actress herself.
Coty are the fragrance giants behind the ‘Halle’ perfume launch and are one of the largest organisations who are behind most of the market’s celebrity fragrances including Britney Spears and Paris Hilton’s high profile perfumes.

The perfume launched this year and Halle Berry made the following statement during the launch: “Before my fragrance, I was mixing other brands that shall remain nameless to make my own scent with fig and mimosa. With Halle, I added olibanum, which is an African root, which brings spice to the fragrance, and sandalwood, which smoothes everything out and makes it yummy. It’s very sensual, very natural, and very much reflective of the outdoors.”

Ms Berry’s fragrance ‘Halle’ has been marketed to the “mid tier” and mass department stores and is selling very quickly.

‘Halle’ opens as a sweet and fruity scent and at this stage is requisite of most celebrity fragrances. As the perfume dries down in the first few minutes it is very similar to a fruity Paris Hilton concoction which features a large slice of creamy vanilla cake together with a soft caramel icing. Within 15 minutes the sugar and fruit calm and the fragrance evolves into an oriental and slightly woody aroma (perfume notes: pear blossom, bergamot, freesia, hibiscus, fig, ultra mimosa, sandalwood, cashmere musk, olibanum and warm amber).

‘Halle’ is certainly unusual when all fragrance notes have played out and presents itself as a highly sophisticated celebrity fragrance. As the perfume dries down completely it is extremely sensual and presents a sexy scent that is noticed by many for the right reasons.
